JOCKEY PROFILE
Clyde Aylin was an English rider who made a name for himself by riding in Ireland. The year 1906 was the pinnacle of his career when he won the Irish Derby on Killeagh (SR 1958) for trainer Michael Dawson. He married 5 years later and was blessed with six children. Such was his riding ability that he won the Irish Jockeys Championship in 1922, but tragedy occurred towards the end of that year when on Wednesday 27th December he was aboard Parkstown when it fell in a Steeplechase at Leopardstown. He was taken to hospital but did not recover from the emergency operation and died the next day.
